Artistic Director Erskine Smith jokingly remarks there will be a ‘Three- Quarter Monty’ in Till it Hurts, a hilarious comedy which opens Friday July 22. Written by Douglas Bowie, with scenic design by Scott MacConnell, Till it Hurts pits a scrooge-like professor against the irresistible force of an enthusiastic fundraiser. Laughs abound as the professor learns – the hard way – that sometimes charity should begin at home.
With “guest appearances” (real or imagined) by such icons as Stephen Lewis, David Suzuki, Beethoven and the King of Ireland himself – Bono,Till It Hurts poses the age-old question – can a call from a telemarketer lead to fulfillment?
The production stars Erskine Smith, Kathleen Hamilton, Mark Fraser and Breanna Moore.
”You’ll Laugh till it hurts. Production nothing short of brilliant.”
- The Whig Standard
“I enjoyed it immensely. In fact, I can’t remember when I laughed so hard at the theatre. It’s a great accomplishment to have written a farce that is so funny and at the same time really rather relevant…”
- Craig Walker, Professor of Drama, Queen’s University
See it at The Victoria Playhouse from July 22 to August 7.
